William & Mary Law alumnus Edward R. Blumberg J.D. ’75 recently returned to the Florida Bar convention stage for the organization’s 50-year member and senior counselor luncheon on June 27. As a past bar president and 50-year member, Blumberg provided a compelling reflection on how much the legal profession has evolved, from law libraries and carbon paper to AI and Zoom courtrooms, while humorously declaring that “50-year members are the new 30-year members.” Most importantly, he reminded attendees of the importance of personal connection, mentorship, and in-person practice in keeping the bar vibrant and ethical.
A Miami-based trial lawyer specializing in medical malpractice and catastrophic injury, Blumberg continues to influence the profession through leadership roles in The Florida Bar, the Florida Bar Foundation, the ABA, and as chair of the National Judicial College’s board. His accomplishments exemplify the best of W&M Law’s tradition of leadership, service, and professional excellence.
